Thank you for your interest in contributing to the PHAB Stories Project! Before you submit a story, we recommend that you read through some of the previously published stories to get a sense of their style and tone. You'll notice that these are written in a journalistic style, rather than the academic style used in peer-reviewed journals.
We've chosen this format to help span the boundaries across all disciplines, and to make them accessible to readers from a variety of backgrounds. After reading through the stories, please peruse
What makes a story PHAB? and our
Guidelines for Interviews.
Three Story Submission Formats
Writing styles and experiences vary. In order to make this process as inclusive as possible, we've come up with three methods for submitting stories, which are described below. Please choose the format that best suits your story idea and writing style.
Submit a story based on your own experience.
If you've participated in a boundary-spanning experience, you may feel most comfortable telling the story in your own words. Feel free to describe your story as you please, referencing the
Guidelines for Interviews as much or as little as you need to give you ideas that shape your narrative. When your story is complete, simply fill out the
Submit a story form.
Submit a story by conducting an interview
Do you know someone whose experience would make a good story? If so, you can use
our questions (plus any of your own) to conduct an interview that you then write up. When your story is complete, simply fill out the
Submit a story based on an Interview form.
Submit your interview questions and answers, then we'll write the story
Do you know someone whose experience would make a good story, but would prefer that we write the story? If so, you can use
our questions (plus any of your own) to conduct an interview. When your interview is complete, follow the process on the
Submit Interview Q&A to be written up by PHAB page, and we'll write the story for you.
Story Subject Review Process
In some cases the subject of your interview may wish to review the story before it is published, just to check that all the facts are correct. To facilitate this process, we have established an editorial review process. PHAB will arrange to share the final draft with your subjects or interviewees, but please feel free to
share this process this with them should they have any questions about it in advance.
